Happy Halloween!
Today is October 31st, which means it is Halloween, and it will be a COLD one in the South----finally!!! I remember Halloween's of yore where you would go to a haunted house, and then gather for chili and hot cocoa after, because it would be frigid. In recent years, it has been balmy and sometimes even a little hot, so I am good with a cold Halloween. Our New Yorker went to work dressed as someone "living her best life," and she definitely looks like she is doing just that. Hers is the photo I decided to share in this blog, because I failed to get a good Fall foliage shot, and I didn't take any photos of myself, because I have not changed much since last week, AND I overslept because the Nationals won the World Series and I watched EVERY bit of it.
Let's talk about the Nationals for a minute. I am not a fan of baseball, but I am a fan of sports, and when I do sit down to watch a baseball game, which is not often, I go all in. That is just my nature. I watched Auburn in the college world series, and acted as if I had watched them since they played T'ball . That is how invested I was in them. I did the same this time with the Washington Nationals even though I didn't turn start watching until Game 3. By the end of that game though, I knew all the players, their mommas and daddies, their batting averages, and what time they go to bed. I became obsessed. Why? Because they were the under dogs, and I LIVE for a good under dog story. I have been an Auburn fan since birth, so you know I know how to cheer for the team who "isn't supposed to win." Also, the minute I found out the Nationals are the oldest team in MLB right now, meaning their players are on average the oldest in age, I was all about cheering for them. Plus, their theme song is Baby Shark. I mean how can you be mad about a team who has that as their theme song? Lastly, they play in my second favorite city of Washington D.C. I love that city second only to NYC, because it is beautiful and historic and my affinity for it has nothing whatsoever to do with who sits in the White House, although I LOVED the Obamas. I once spent an entire afternoon trying to find their house. Not sure what I would have done had I found it, but I just wanted to be near.
Here is what else I love about the Nationals. They were not supposed to win. In fact, they had a pretty rough season, and had to come from behind in almost every playoff series. Their motto was "Finish The Fight" and I can relate to that in my journey to be healthier. It is a fight. I am still not sure how to fight the fight, because I am experimenting with different things, but I know it is a battle, and I will finish. I may not have Baby Shark piping in as I do this, but then again, why not?
I still, admittedly, have not decided how best to lose this weight, and I have not lost anymore since beginning the journey, but I will figure it out, and if you are struggling, you will figure it out as well. I am happy to say that I have not missed a day taking my thyroid medicine, and I do feel a bit better than I did before, although I am pretty sure my dosage will need to be increased. I am starting a new workout program with Anthony starting tomorrow, and he has reminded me of that about three times, because he knows that while I have a great memory, I tend to "forget" exercise. Not sure why that never sticks.
Have a great Halloween, and tomorrow begins the beginning of the holiday season. I used to think October was my favorite year, but since it is now a hotter month than it should be, I have now deemed November my favorite. The fight is harder during these next two months, but maybe this year will be the turning point.
I will keep you posted.
